Regalo de Mara :) / Mara's Present :)

Una entrada rápida para contar que estuve de visita en Asturias y le hice una visita a Mara. Y teníamos un regalito para J hecho por ella! Que ilusión! Aunque es un pelín grande no he podido evitar estrenarlo.

A short post to say that I have been in Asturias and visited Mara. She made a present for Julia! Although it is a bit big I couldn't stop myself and she is already wearing it.

Ahora que me vuelvo a vivir a Gijón espero que nos veamos a menudo ;)
Ah! Y decir que la tia además the ser guapa, simpática y coser genial... no tiene nada de acento Alemán! Que envidia de la mala!

Now that I'm moving back to Gijón I hope we can meet more often ;)
Ah! And I have to say that she is not only, nice, pretty and good at sewing... she doesn't even have a german accent at all!! I'm completely jealous!

Vestido Estrellas / Stars Dress

Cuando vi esta tela roja con estrellas en Stoff und Stil me enamoré. También le tenía echado el ojo a este patrón de vestido. Así que aproveché que mi vecina iba a hacer un pedido y ni me lo pensé.

Empecé haciéndolo de manga larga y con el escote en tela azul... Error, parecía una presentadora de circo. Así que me centré en una sola tela y le puse manga corta para que no cantara tanto. Aunque no es lo que me imaginé inicialmente no estoy del todo a disgusto con el resultado. 

Os pasa a veces que os enamoráis de una tela y luego puesta no os convence tanto? Tengo que practicar un poco más porque hubo un momento que pensé en tirar el vestido y el resto de tela a la basura!

When I saw this red fabric with stars in Stoff und Stil I fell in love. I also had my eye on this pattern for a dress. So when my neighbour told me she was going to order something I also did.

I started with long sleeves and blue chest... Big mistake, I looked like a circus performer. So I focused in only one fabric and shortened the sleeve so it wouldn't be so shocking. Although is not what I imagined in the first place, I'm not completely unhappy with the result.

Does this also happen to you? Do you sometimes fall in love with some fabric and once you use it it doesn't suit you? I have to practise this a bit more because at some point I thought about throwing the dress and the fabric in the bin!

En fin, aquí el resultado / Anyway, here is the result

Y una vista del escote que no veáis que trabajo me ha dado. Primero traducir las instrucciones del alemán. Luego hice el ojal directamente en la tela jersey y quedó todo estirado. Cuando lo volví a hacer bien... perdí la pieza (!). Y por fin a la tercera lo conseguí.

And here a better view of the chest that gave me a lot of work. First I needed to translate the instructions from the german pattern. Then I made the hole directly in the jersey fabric so it ended up all stretchy. When I did it properly again... I lost the piece (!). And finally the third time I managed to do it.

Vestido Pana / Cord Dress

Es la primera vez que uso pana y la primera vez que pongo una cremallera invisible. Prueba superada. 
Patrón 27 de la Ottobre 6/2012 sin cuello ni botones ni bolsos. Todo fuera!
Es un poco más clásico de lo que a mi me gusta pero tenía ganas de hacer un vestido y de poner una cremallera invisible.
También me ha salido un pelín grande. Tendré que esperar un par de meses a que crezca un par de centímetros.

It's the first time I used cord and also the first time I sewed an invisible zip. I passed the test!
Pattern 27 from Ottobre 6/2012 without collar, buttons and pockets. Everything out!
It's a bit more traditional than I like but I wanted to make a dress and try the invisible zip.
It's also a bit big so we have to wait a couple of months until she grows a couple cm.

Y con diferencia lo que más me costó. Tuve que repasarla 2 veces porque me había quedado un poco abierta. Mereció la pena volver a intentarlo. No se ve nada!

Definitely the most difficult bit. I had to do it twice because the first time it was a bit open. But it was worth it. You can't see anything!

Vestido rojo / Red dress

Después de hacerme mi primer vestido tenía que probar otra vez. Asegurarme que no era la suerte del principiante. Esta vez me compliqué un poco más porque escogí una tela de punto que al estirarse transparentaba un poco, así que le hice un forro de tela de camiseta roja.
Resultado: no transparenta y es muy calentito. Eso sí, doble de piezas y doble de trabajo.
También aproveché para alargar 4-5cm la pieza del pecho y ahora queda mucho mejor!
Lo que no se cómo mejorar es la parte de abajo. Al rematarla se hacen ondas. No me parece horrible pero no es lo que quería. 
Bueno, seguiremos practicando ;)

After sewing my first dress I had to try again. I needed to check that it wasn't beginner's luck. This time it was a bit more complicated because I chose a knitted fabric that when it was stretched you could see through it a bit, so I lined it.
Result: you can't see through it and it is quite warm. But, double pieces and double work.
I also took advantage and made the chest 4-5 cm longer and now it fits better!
What I don't know is how to improve is the bottom bit. When I finished it I got waves. It's not horrible but it's not what I wanted.

Esta es la vista del forro interior. Las costuras quedan bastante gordas por lo que las rematé con la overlock y cosí de nuevo así abiertas

This is the lining view. The seams are quite thick so I finished them with the overlocker and sewed them again opened.

Pijama manta / Blanket pijama

Para completar el Pijama con o sin pies hice una parte de arriba utilizando una manta polarvide de Ikea. Tenía ganas de hacer este patrón Raglán con Botones.

A pesar de que cometí un error tras otro conseguí ir salvándolos y estoy contenta con el resultado. 

To complete the Pijamas with or without feet I made a top using a polarvide blanket from Ikea. I was looking forward to try this pattern Button Shoulder Raglan.

Even then I made a mistake after another I managed to fix them and I'm quite happy with the result.

Primero me olvidé de dejar el margen extra para los botones (!) así que añadí una tira de la misma tela que usé para el pantalón y solucionado (fiu!!)

First I forgot to add the extra margin for the buttons (!) so I added a strip of the same fabric I used for the trousers and that fixed it (phew!!)

Y como estoy acostumbrada a trabajar con tela elástica lo hice muy justo y no le entraba, ni siquiera abriendo los botones. Así que añadi una tira de unos 5 cm por todo el lateral y también funcionó! :)

And because I'm used to working with stretchy fabric I made it too tight and it was imposible to wear, neither with the buttons opened. So I added a strip about 5cm width in both sides, and that also worked! :)

La parte de abajo no la rematé, dejé los flecos de la manta. Le añadí un bolso bien grande y una de mis nuevas etiquetas handmade de MIAS-Abenteuerland

I didn't finish the bottom, I left the frill of the blanket. I added a big pocket and one of my new handmade labels from MIAS-Abenteuerland

Pijama con o sin pies / Pijama with or without feet

Conozco una niña imposible de tapar por las noches. Los sacos de dormir tampoco le valen. Así que después de varias pruebas he conseguido hacer unos pies de quita y pon. Dejo aquí los pasos mas que nada para que no se me olviden, y por si a alguien le viene bien. 
Siento al calidad de las fotos ;)

I know a girl impossible to cover at night. Sleeping bags are not an option. So after several tries I managed to make removable feet. I'm writing the steps here so I don't forget and also in case it's useful for someone else.
I'm sorry about the bad picture quality ;)

1. Hice un patrón muy sencillo copiando unos vaqueros. Dejando margen arriba para poner la cintura elástica y abajo para que quedaran bien de largos. Y mucho mas anchos ya que no es tela elástica y tienen que ser cómodos para dormir

1. I made a very easy pattern copying some jeans. I left some margin on the top for the waist and some on the bottom to make them long enough. I also made them wider because it's not stretchy fabric and they need to be comfortable to sleep.

2. Luego calculé un puño que fuera capaz de cubrir todo el pie. Para un pie de 13 cm hice 2 piezas:
- a la derecha una que sea más o menos el doble de larga. Le puse 25cm de largo y 10cm de ancho.
- a la izquierda otra pieza igual pero con un extra de unos 4.5 cm. Este extra es el que va a cerrarse sobre el puño y crear un pie.

2. I calculated a band able to cover all the feet. For a 13 cm foot I made 2 pieces:
- the one on the right is about double of the length I need. I did it 25cm long and 10cm width
- the one on the left is the same but with 4.5cm extra. This extra bit is the one is going to close the band and become a foot.

3. Corto ambas piezas sobre la tela doblada

3. I cut both pieces on folded fabric

4. Se dejan las dos piezas dobladas y con el lado derecho para arriba. Abajo va la pieza larga y arriba la corta. Las partes de abajo que están abiertas deben coincidir (en el dibujo se ven dobladas las 4 capas)

4. Leave both pieces folded and with the right side on the outside. Leave the long piece on the bottom and the short on top. The open edges must match (you can see the 4 layers on the picture)

5. Ahora se dobla por la mitad.

5. Now fold in the middle.

6. Se cosen los 2 laterales

6. Sew both sides

7. Queda una apertura con 4 capas sueltas a un lado y una doblez por el otro. Se le da la vuelta por ahi y...

7. Now you have an open side with 4 layers on one side and a folded one on the other. Turn there and...

8. Magia! Un puño cerrado. Esta es la versión "pie"

8. Magic! A closed band. This is the "foot" version.

9. Si ahora se le da la vuelta a la solapa... tachán!!! Puño listo para poner en el pantalón

9. If now you turn that flap... tachan!! The band is ready to go on the trouser.

10. Así. Damos la vuelta y cosemos por todo el borde.

10. Like this. We turn it and sew all around.

 

11. Y este es el resultado! Se deja abierto para caminar... o se le da la vuelta a la solapa y se cierra para dormir. Por fin pies calientes!

11. And this is the result! You can leave it open to walk... or turn the flap to close it to sleep. Finally warm feet!

Comentarios:

- cuidado porque con tanta costura y doblez es mucho mas pequeño de lo que parece en un principio

- usad tela fina y lo más elástica posible por los mismos motivos

- be careful because with so much sewing and folding it's a lot smaller that it looks at the beginning.

- use fabric as thin and stretchy as possible because of the same reasons.

Vestido azul

El primer vestido que me hago! Y estoy encantada con el resultado. El patrón lo saqué de un vestido que compré en Natura y me encanta. Aunque en las fotos no se aprecia el corte me queda un poco alto así que para la próxima tengo que ampliarlo unos 4-5 cm.

Repito seguro!

The first dress I made for myself! And I'm delighted with the result. I got the pattern from a dress I bought in Natura and I love. Is not obvious in the pictures but the chest seam is a bit high so next time I'll extend it 4-5 cm.

I'll do it again for sure!

Sunje Dress

Hace tiempo que tenía ganas de hacer este patrón y por fin el día de Navidad me auto regalé el patrón.  Es la primera vez que hago algo con tantas piezas pero merece la pena. Lo único que hice fue no ponerle la capucha porque casi todas las chaquetas y abrigos de J ya la tienen.

I wanted to do this pattern for so long, so finally on Christmas day I gave me a treat and bought the pattern. Is the first time I sew something with so many pieces but it worth it. The only change I made was remove the hoodie cause most of J's cloths have it.
